1. Introduction

These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") apply to all products and services offered by Rat Trap Furniture (operating under rattrapfurniture.com and rattrapplanter.com), owned by Johan van de Ven, based in The Netherlands.

By placing an order or using our website, you agree to these Terms.

2. Products

We sell furniture pieces (planters, benches, service tables) with integrated multi‑catch rat traps.

All dimensions and materials are listed on the product page.
Wood is a natural material; minor variations in color, grain, and knots are normal and not considered defects.
Traps are sourced from third‑party manufacturers and are tested for functionality.

3. Pricing & Quotes

All prices are in Euros (€) and exclude VAT (if applicable) unless stated otherwise.
Quotes are valid for 30 days from the date of issue.
We reserve the right to change prices without prior notice, but quoted prices will be honored for the validity period.

4. Orders & Payments

Orders can be placed via email, WhatsApp, or through our contact form.
Payment methods: Bank transfer (iDEAL, SEPA) or PayPal (if offered).
Full payment is required before production or shipment, unless otherwise agreed in writing.

5. Shipping & Delivery

We ship within the Netherlands and, on request, to other EU countries.
Delivery times are estimates: 5–15 business days for production, plus shipping time.
Flat pack orders (unassembled) are shipped in boxes. Assembly instructions are included.
Risk of loss or damage passes to you upon delivery. Inspect the package immediately; report damage to the carrier.

6. Returns & Cancellations

Custom‑made furniture cannot be returned unless defective.
Standard items (if any) can be returned within 14 days of delivery, unassembled and in original packaging. Return shipping is your responsibility.
Defective products: contact us within 7 days of delivery with photos. We will repair, replace, or refund at our discretion.
Cancellations before production starts: full refund. After production starts: refund minus material and labor costs.

7. Warranty

Wooden furniture: 2‑year warranty against structural defects (cracking, warping, breakage). Normal wood aging (darkening, small cracks) is not covered.
Traps (galvanized steel): Warranty follows the manufacturer's policy (typically 1 year). Rust after 1–2 years is normal and not covered.
Stainless steel traps (premium line): 5‑year warranty against rust and mechanical failure.

Warranty is void if the product is misused, modified, or not maintained as instructed.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Dutch law:

We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages (e.g., lost profits, pest control costs).
Our total liability for any claim related to a product is limited to the purchase price of that product.
We are not responsible for non‑target animals caught due to incorrect placement.

9. Governing Law & Disputes

These Terms are governed by Dutch law. Any disputes shall first be attempted to be resolved amicably. If unresolved, disputes will be submitted to the competent court in The Netherlands (district where we are based).

10. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes take effect immediately upon posting on this page. The "Last updated" date indicates the latest version.
