Return Policy

At Rat Trap Furniture, we want you to be satisfied with your purchase. This Return Policy explains your rights and obligations when returning products.
1. Right of withdrawal (standard items only)
Under Dutch and EU law, you have the right to withdraw from your purchase within 14 days of receiving your order, without giving any reason.
This right applies only to standard, non‑customised items (if we ever offer such products – e.g., a trap alone or a bench in a fixed size/colour).
Custom‑made furniture (made to your specific dimensions, finish, or configuration) is exempt from the right of withdrawal under Article 16 of the Consumer Rights Directive. Custom orders cannot be returned unless defective.
2. Conditions for return
To be eligible for a return:
- You must notify us within 14 days of delivery.
- The product must be unused, unassembled, and in its original packaging.
- The product must not show signs of damage, wear, or assembly attempt.
- You must provide proof of purchase (order confirmation or invoice).
3. How to return an item
- Contact us within 14 days of delivery: info@rattrapfurniture.com – include your order number and reason for return (optional).
- We will provide you with a return address (The Netherlands).
- Pack the item securely in its original packaging.
- Ship the item back at your own cost. We recommend using a tracked shipping service – we are not responsible for lost returns.
4. Return shipping costs
You are responsible for the cost of return shipping. These costs are not refundable.
5. Refunds
Once we receive and inspect the returned item (usually within 5–10 business days):
- We will issue a refund of the product price (excluding original shipping costs, if any).
- Refunds are made using the same payment method you used (bank transfer, iDEAL, PayPal).
- We do not charge a restocking fee.
If the item is damaged, used, or missing parts, we may deduct a reasonable amount from the refund.
6. Defective or wrong items
If you receive a defective product or the wrong item, please contact us within 7 days of delivery with:
- Your order number
- Photos showing the defect or wrong item
We will arrange a replacement or full refund (including return shipping costs) at no charge to you.
7. Exceptions – no returns accepted for:
- Custom‑made furniture (made to your specifications)
- Any product that has been assembled, modified, or installed
- Wood with natural variations (grain, knots, colour) – these are not defects
- Traps that have been used (due to hygiene and animal welfare reasons)
