Frequently Asked Questions

1. How does your rat trap furniture work?

Our planters, benches, and service tables have a hidden multi‑catch rat trap inside. Rats enter through a small, dark opening (or a PVC tunnel), walk through a one‑way door, and cannot escape. The trap holds multiple rats until you remove them – no poison, no cruelty.

2. Is the trap humane?

Yes. Rats are not harmed. They stay in a ventilated cage with access to water (if you add the optional water bottle). You can release them elsewhere or have them humanely euthanized by a professional. We follow Dutch animal welfare guidelines.

3. How many rats can one trap hold?

Most of our traps hold 10–30 rats at once, depending on the model and size.

4. Do I need to use poison or bait?

No poison ever. You can use non‑toxic bait like peanut butter, dog biscuits, aniseed oil, or dried fruit. The bait attracts rats into the trap. Bait is placed inside a secure compartment – rats cannot eat it, only smell it.

5. How often do I need to empty the trap?

Check the trap at least once a week (in some countries daily, by law). Empty it when you see rats inside. Swap the cage with a clean one, or release the rats at least 1 km away (if local laws allow release).

6. What materials do you use?

  • Wood: Douglas fir (standard) – durable, affordable, widely available. Also Western Red Cedar (premium, natural rot resistance).
  • Traps: Galvanized steel (budget, replaceable) or stainless steel (premium, rust‑proof).
  • Tunnel (optional): 150mm PVC pipe – dark, smooth, easy to clean.

7. Can I use your furniture outdoors?

Yes – but protect it from direct rain. Our service tables and benches are designed for covered outdoor areas (terraces with a roof, loading docks, trash areas under a canopy). For full rain exposure, choose HDPE (plastic) or stainless steel interior.

8. How do I clean the trap?

Remove the cage. Hose it down or wipe with disinfectant. Our traps are powder‑coated – this finish is more durable and rust‑resistant than standard galvanized steel. With proper care, they last for years without rusting. For premium applications, we also offer stainless steel traps, which are even easier to sanitize and last a lifetime.

9. Do you ship outside the Netherlands?

Yes, we ship World-wide. Contact us for a shipping quote. Flat pack (unassembled wood + loose trap) is available to reduce shipping costs.

10. Can I get a custom size or finish?

Absolutely. We make custom furniture to fit your space – different heights, widths, wood stains, or even HDPE with your logo printed. Ask for a quote.

11. What if a non‑target animal enters the trap?

This is rare if you place the trap correctly (elevated, near walls, with a tunnel). However, we are not liable for non‑target catches. To minimize risk, use a tunnel (rats love dark pipes; birds and hedgehogs often avoid them) and check the trap frequently.

12. How much does a typical unit cost?

Prices depend on the model, finishing, and custom requests. We offer solutions for different needs – from standard powder‑coated traps with Douglas wood to premium stainless steel with cedar or HDPE. Contact us for a free, no‑obligation quote based on your requirements.

13. Do you offer a warranty?

Yes:

  • Wooden furniture (Douglas / Cedar): 2 years (structural defects)
  • HDPE furniture: 5 years (no rot, no cracking – material warranty)
  • Powder‑coated traps: 1–2 years (depending on usage and environment)
  • Stainless steel traps (premium): 5 years (rust and mechanical failure)

Normal wood aging (darkening, small cracks) is not a defect. HDPE requires no maintenance and does not age like wood.

14. Can I see a product before buying?

We are based in The Netherlands. If you are nearby, you can visit our workshop or a test location. Contact us to arrange.

15. How do I place an order?

Send us an email with:

  • Desired product (planter / bench / service table)
  • Dimensions (or “standard”)
  • Material (Douglas / Cedar / HDPE)
  • Trap type (galvanized / stainless)
